# When an agent asks you for a quote, you'll know which company sent it and what it's allowed to spend.

An agent with a pass from us carries the name of the company it works for and the limit a person set, and it operates openly and respects your decision to take part or not. That's the test you'd put to anyone at your door, and it's the one the check enforces, so you can quote on your own price and terms, knowing exactly who you're dealing with.

Tell us what you sell: hello@tollrelay.com. The seller docs are at https://pr-279.trlay.sh/docs/verify.

## See who's ordering before you accept

Agent orders arrive with the company behind them, what it can still spend today and who signed the order off, and you accept with one click. Then the buyer's finance team opens the same receipt you keep.

### Who's ordering

The company behind the agent, what it can still spend today and who signed the order off, before you decide.

### One decision

The agent's order sits with your other orders and needs one click. Accept it, and the receipt is written for both sides.

### One receipt, both sides

The link goes out with your confirmation, and Acme's finance team opens the receipt you keep, so you both hold the same proof of the order.

**Sample.** Acme Construction Ltd, verified, United Kingdom. Signed off by finance at Acme. Excavator, 8 tonne, 3 days. Delivery to Ashford, from Monday. Order total $1,840.00. Inside Acme's limit. One button: Accept order. Receipt `rcpt_sample`, sent with your confirmation: Checked at 10:42, Signed off by finance at 10:44, Accepted at 10:44, Opened by finance at Acme at 10:51.

## You keep your price, your terms and the final say

All TollRelay adds is a check you run before you quote, take an order or serve a request. The agent sends what we call its pass with every request, and checking it takes one call, so we don't take a cut, we don't take the payment and we never stand between you and your customer.

Checks are free, and at very high volume we agree a fair-use limit with you.

1. **Get a key.** Talk to us and we'll issue your seller key.
2. **Check before you quote.** Send us the pass the agent gave you before you quote or take the order, and the answer is designed to come back in under 50 ms.
3. **Keep the receipt.** Write its id next to the order, because the buyer's history holds the same one.

```ts
const { decision, receipt_id } = await trlay.evaluateTrust({ subject, context })
if (decision === "refuse") return turnAway(receipt_id)
```

## A site that sells nothing can still tell who's at the door

Plenty of sites have nothing to sell an agent and no wish to take a payment, but they'd still like to know whether the one asking belongs to a known company or to nobody. With `admit()` your site reads the agent's signature, finds the company's public key and tells the two apart before it serves a page, with no account on TollRelay.

`admit()` is coming in a later release of the SDK. The [docs](https://pr-279.trlay.sh/docs/admit) show how it works.

## What it costs you to start

- **1 call** before you quote or take the order, and you get back a yes or a no, the reasons and a receipt id.
- **50 ms** or less is what the answer is designed to take, or no call at all if you check offline against our public keys.
- **$0** a check, at any normal volume, with no minimum and no share of the sale.

## Questions sellers ask us

### What if a buyer's agent has no pass?

Then serve it the way you do today. The check only tells you more when a pass is there, and it never gets in the way of a customer you already have.

### Do I change how I get paid?

No, you keep charging the way you already do, whether that's x402, MPP or your usual invoice, and TollRelay never touches the payment or takes a share of it.

### What do I learn about the buyer?

You'll see whether the company passed verification, which of its agents asked and whether the order fits inside its limit, but never any of its documents.
